A walking production on and around the central square of Paide.
At four in the morning Trafalgar Square is deserted, but in 1913 the suffragettes fought for their rights there. On the open square of Tiananmen someone did the same, someone whose name we will never hear. When the Czech Republic beat the Soviet ice hockey team, Wenceslas Square was empty, but an hour later 150,000 elated fans filled it.
Through argument and conflict, through reconciliation and joy, a town draws itself. But in the middle of the buildings there is always a square, an exclamation mark, a comma and a full stop for the crowds. A square that is empty until it no longer is.
What is possible in Times Square? In Red Square? What has St Mark’s Square in Venice seen? What happens on the central square of Paide?
